Purpose Statement:

The job of PRESCHOOL LEAD TEACHER  

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support the school's mission, philosophies, values, goals, and policies toward students, parents/guardians and coworkers
  • Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum and effectively deliver instruction through discovery learning, hands-on-learning, and while supporting the development of the whole child
  • Apply Early Learning Content Standards in the preparation and implementation of lesson plans to teach instructional objectives
  • Routinely examine student data for ongoing refinement of instruction and assessment
  • Exhibit a warm, friendly disposition to foster positive relationships with all stakeholders
  • Facilitate regular parent/guardian communications and conferences to discuss student progress
  • Maintain an organized, attractive and safe classroom environment that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence
  • Encourage self-expression through understanding, flexibility, and behavioral reinforcement
  • Provide verbal recognition and acceptance to children while modeling clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior
  • Have an understanding of PBIS strategies or willingness to learn
  • Maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds
  • Attend all training, staff meetings, and other professional development initiatives as required
  • Comply with all local, state or national licensing and accreditation regulations

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education.  Current licensure to teach preferred.
  • Pass state background check and health assessments.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain).
  •  Previous experience working with children in a licensed or accredited day care, childcare center or preschool preferred.
